2015 Honda Accord: The Tradition Goes On
December 29 2014,
Good looks, comfort, spirited performance, competent road handling, fuel efficiency, legendary reliability: these are the attributes often associated with the Honda Accord. It is not surprising that, since its beginning in 1976, more than 12 million units have been sold worldwide.
The 2015 Honda Accord is available in both coupe and sedan form. The Accord Sedan is offered in LX, Sport, EX-L, EX-L V6, Touring, Touring V6, Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid configurations. The Coupe comes in EX , EX-L NAVI and EX-L V6 NAVI trims. As base models in each category, the LX sedan and EX coupe already come with several features such as 17” aluminum alloy wheels, power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, Bluetooth interface, and a USB port.
The Accord can be equipped with three powertrains: a 2.4 L engine producing 185 hp and 181 lb.-ft of torque, a 3.5 L V6 generating 278 hp and 252 lb.-ft of torque and, in the sedan, a hybrid version that combines a 2.0L Atkinson Cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine and a 124-kW electric motor producing together 196 hp.
The 2.4-litre engine comes with a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. The V6 also gets the six-speed manual, but a six-speed automatic transmission is available. The hybrid only comes with the CVT.
According to Natural Resources Canada, the Accord Hybrid has a fuel economy rating of 3.7/ 4.0 L per 100 km (city/highway), the best fuel efficiency in the mid-sized sedan category. It is not surprising that the Honda Accord Hybrid has been named the Canadian Green Car of the Year by 2014 by the World Wildlife Fund.
The interior of the Accord is both spacious and comfortable with top quality materials used throughout the cabin. Ergonomics are first-class and outside visibility is excellent due in large part to the expansive windows, slender roof pillars, and a low belt-line.
The Accord is one of the safest car in its category. Safety features include 6 standard airbags, ABS, stability and traction control, hill start assist, frontal collision warning, rear view camera, lane departure warning, and a passenger side blind spot display that provides a wide view of the passenger side of the vehicle when the right turn signal is activated.
In summary, the 2015 Honda Accord continues to be a very good car. It will appeal to buyers seeking a comfortable sedan that also offers good performance and great fuel-economy. With its numerous versions, there is an Accord for everyone, and as always, reliability is the main selling point.
