2017 Ford Escape: The Latest and Greatest

If you thought the 2016 Ford Escape was great, wait till you take a gander at the 2017 edition. Just like the previous generation, the 2017 Escape boasts the latest and greatest in technological gadgetry, along with an extremely appealing exterior design, plus a host of amazing engines to choose from. This crossover has been a winner since it was redesigned in 2012, and this latest iteration will surely keep it at the very top where it deserves to be.

Choose Your Escape

For 2017, the Ford Escape is offered with three different engines. The Escape S comes equipped with a 2.5L iVCT inline-4 engine that produces 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. The Ford Escape SE features a 1.5L EcoBoost mill that’s tuned to produce 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. And at the very top of the 2017 Ford Escape food chain sits the Escape Titanium model which houses a 2.0L TwinScroll EcoBoost engine that produces 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque.

On both the SE and Titanium models, the engines have been tweaked from the previous generation to perform just a tad better, offering up slightly more horsepower and torque.

All three models are equipped with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive is available on all models, whereas AWD can only be had on the SE and Titanium iterations.

While the performance numbers seem more than reasonable (and actually a little bit fun), there are a few more numbers you’ll be interested to see: the fuel consumption ratings. At its very best (FWD SE model with the 1.5L EcoBoost mill), the 2017 Ford Escape can return a reading as low as 7.8L/100km on the highway.

Small Changes, Big Difference

Once again, the 2017 Ford Escape really didn’t go through any major cosmetic changes on the inside or outside. However, there is a Sport Appearance package available that features 19” black wheels, black-bezel halogen projector headlights, black-tinted taillights, a black front grille, black roof rails, and a host of unique interior design elements that really set this particular Escape apart from the rest of the lineup.

The 2017 Ford Escape offers seating for five, as well as 971L of cargo space with the second row up and 1,920L with it folded. Of course, you can equip your 2017 Ford Escape with the latest edition of SYNC, as well as the Foot-Activated Hands-Free Power liftgate.
